InfoWorld recently put eight PHP IDEs to test and scored them all based on categories such as value, ease of use, tools, SQL support, and installation. The eight IDEs examined were:
* ActiveState’s Komodo IDE
* CodeLobster PHP Edition
* Eclipse PHP Development Tools (PDT)
* MPSoftware’s phpDesigner
* NetBeans IDE for PHP
* NuSphere’s PhpED
* WaterProof’s PHPEdit
* Zend Studio
* ActiveState’s Komodo IDE
* CodeLobster PHP Edition
* Eclipse PHP Development Tools (PDT)
* MPSoftware’s phpDesigner
* NetBeans IDE for PHP
* NuSphere’s PhpED
* WaterProof’s PHPEdit
* Zend Studio
According to InfoWorld, all these IDEs offer strong support for other languages and environments (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL) that PHP developers encounter. The key differences InfoWorld discovered were in the tools they provide (HTML inspector, SQL management system) for various tasks, the quality of their documentation, and general ease of use.
InfoWorld identified four IDEs as a cut above the rest. Read the entire review to find out which ones: http://www.infoworld.com/d/developer-world/infoworld-review-eight-php-power-tools-737
