By: Gavin Subject: Very good Excellent article. I was considering the intricacies of using TDD with PHP and researching the idea of creating a unit test suite. Turns out that there is no need, your SimpleTest library is very useful. Thanks for a very informative read, I believe this sort of standards driven programming is of high value to PHP as all to often it seems to be the language of absent standards perhaps as it lacks the formal utilities and IDE integrated testing of other languages. We work predominantly with .Net but our PHP roster is getting larger and larger and is important to be able to offer clients the same standards regardless of language, and importantly to us, we can work different languages using the same methodology. As you say test driven development seems so backwards when you start, but after persevering for a while you have to wonder why you would ever had coded any other way. Great stuff. |
