Subject: problem:how to open dbf file using php

hi;
when we are working in perl using mapserver and mapscript we use XBase for opening dbf file like $table = new XBase "../data/ctybdpy2.dbf" or die XBase->errstr;
i am using php not perl how i cater this problem

plz help me
