By: Tablizer Subject: Fits the real world? A vague claim Re: "the benefit of OO = Object Oriented is that it is Concept Oriented, or Essences Oriented. It just reflects world better..." How do you figure that? Has does one tell and measure if something is "fitting the real world better"? It perhaps may fit the way that *you* think, but everybody's mind is different. I have read some claims that OO fits Plato's philosophies to some extent, but Plato got a lot of things wrong. Here is a quote I placed on C2.com: "On NPR about 5 months ago a guy was hawking a book suggesting that Plato's ideas are rather arbitrary, and that other legitimate competing thought systems exist. He even pointed out some examples of flaws in "objectness" thinking. For example, object thinkers would say that wood floats (on water) because of some property of wood. However, eastern philosophers correctly surmised that it was the relationship between water and wood that was the key, not properties of just one or the other..." |
