Subject: ZEND Studio

As a MacOSX user and Adobe CS user, we were offered Zend Studio at a discount. Although the product claims to support OSX, I must caution OSX users that there is little or no support for this product in the OSX evironment.

My example is something as simple as changing the default browser. IE is no longer under development for OSX and is easy to break where it will not work at al. Zend calls IE from the first activation key link to any help selection. It will not open IE with the desire URL only a FILE://dummy.html.

First I was told by tech support that Zend did not use IE at all. Once I quoted the ./runExplorer.sh script in their bin file, then support gave me a command that starts Safari, a browser supplied by Apple. But it does not invoke the desired URL. When asked for a command that did such, I was told that I must discover this and then substitute it in the browser setting. It must be a command line statement. All those using command lines in OSX to start applications, raise your hands!
