By: Barry Steele Subject: Missed the point THe article misses the real point of design - the fact that you are actually trying to meet a set of requirements. The "main" issues identifed in the article of performance, security etc simply become components of that set. Where is the detailed discussion of analysis and design in terms of developing platform independent models (see www.omg.org/mda) that can be tested prior to any coding. Programming is drone work that can be carried out by any automaton with sufficient training, real value is provided when solution models are built to provide an organisation with the ability to change as conditions require without being held to ransom due to a platform choice taken at a particular point in time. Let's get away from this concept that programming is in some way creative, its not. (I've been developing for only about 23 years) |
