Subject: Wordpad v.s Word

Actaully, Word does throw in a whole bunch of garbage. Instead of trying to dig through the 3 billion page reference manual by MS, I wanted to figure out a table in rtf.

I started by creating an rtf file in Word. Saved it, opened it in homesite (my preferred text editor) and what a disgusting mess of jibberish.

Opened that same file in wordpad, saved as a new rtf, and it's clean and crisp, and much easier to find what i'm looking for.

all in all, rtf is one messy spec. Too bad it's not xml based.
