Oriented is a word. It exists as such in the UK, where the English Language comes from.

The fact that the US has adopted our language is an accident of history - a handful of votes more and they could have been mangling and disfiguring the Spanish language instead. Our loss and Spain's gain. I'm afraid. The fact that they were incapable and unwilling to invent and adopt their own language is not surprising, given their 'relaxed' attitudes to intellectual property rights at this time.

Because of the viral nature of US culture (e.g. McDonalds exhibits all signs of a virus - unwelcome - able to reproduce and further broadcast itself - harms but doesn't completely kill its host), English in this mangled form is now the language of the Internet market place.

Perhaps we need to take it back off them and reclaim it.
