Subject: Enter in RAD, Ala CORBA or otherwise..

Ho hum, all you need is some CORBA
and a Resource Access Decision (RAD) system, and a lot of patience.. Actually the simple concept is this, everywhere you have a resource ask a class/server [hint php script] called a RAD if that resource can be accessed, pass to the class RAD three arguments, the guy's credentials and the resource he is trying to access and the operation he want's to perform. If the guy can access the stuff, okay, if he can't, he can't, that's pretty simple..

The hard part is determining what to put in your RAD. Each resource carries with it attachments to security access information, what roles or ids satisfy what operations on it. In the RAD specs there is a concept, a decision combinator. That guy combines the requirements from across the domain, to the specifics of that resource, what is needed to access that resource. Also the decision combinator can have a dyanmic credential recognizer attached, in case you want to allow a special entity to access your resource, such as your friend Howard who happens to want to hack your site for you, but just for today.

If you read the specs of RAD from the OMG, you will eventually get an idea of how a perfect resource access system can be designed.. Hey tens of companies already did the guesswork for you, why not reuse the knowledge.
