Subject: why not use CVS export?

You could way simplify your update script and totally get rid of the redundant share-update directory by just using cvs export. It works just like checkout except that it just exports pure source (no CVS directories). So all your update script needs to do is nuke the existing production directory and cvs export a new one.

(I know, that wouldn't give you the chance to show off your 'find' skills... :-> )

Now, what I haven't figured out yet is the best way to have an update script like this run automatically everytime changes are committed... I tried using CVS' loginfo feature, but kept running into lock conflicts in the cvs root...
