Not sure if this was ever answered. It is almost a month old now. But if you are still struggling with the query, try this:

SELECT day, count(*) as hits
FROM activity_log
WHERE type=0 GROUP BY day
ORDER BY hits DESC

It might be ASC instead of DESC try both.

What if one wants the results ordered by the amount of hits descending, like:

25/03/2002 100 hits
12/02/2002 54 hits
03/01/2002 7 hits

Does anybody know how to do this?
